"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
I hope I have the wisdom and discernment not to sweat the small stuff, yet not to be silent when I should speak.

Books again...and a little crafting
No wonder I don't get around to blogging, made a scarf one evening this week, read a book the next, had to break down and do a little cleaning. Jon was gone so no need to cook. One of my favorite suppers is POPCORN!
I sure find this to be true....some books are just meant to be read and enjoyed. Others require engagement~~ the chewing, ruminating, etc. I enjoy both types of reading, which is why I usually have several books going at the same time. I sure am thankful to have a public library. I would go broke if I had to purchase all the books I've read or plan to read.

Books
This is my kind of gal....
Anna Quindlen, "I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves."
Anna Quindlen, "I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves."
Fits in well with my addition/hobby/pasttime, whatever you want to call my love for books.
How can I work that in with my desire to declutter and simplify?

"There are always those who take it upon themselves to defend God, as
if Ultimate Reality, as if the sustaining frame of existence, were
something weak and helpless. These people walk by a widow deformed by
leprosy begging for a few paise, walk by children dressed in rags living
in the street, and they think, “Business as usual.” But if they
perceive a slight against God, it is a different story. Their faces go
red, their chests heave mightily, they sputter angry words. The degree
of their indignation is astonishing. Their resolve is frightening.”
"These people fail to realize that it is on the inside that God must
be defended, not on the outside. They should direct their anger at
themselves. For evil in the open is but evil from within that has been
let out. The main battlefield for good is not the open ground of the
public arena but the small clearing of each heart. Meanwhile, the lot of
widows and homeless children is very hard, and it is to their defense,
not God’s, that the self-righteous should rush.” ~Life of Pi
I'm thinking Pi has it right....
Psalm 139:23-24 New Life Version
23 Look through me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. 24 See if there is any sinful way in me and lead me in the way that lasts forever.
I can be such a Pharisee at times...pointing out others shortcomings while ignoring my own. O God, search me! Show me the way. Help me to see and treat others as You would.

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." Leonardo da Vinci
Well, my decluttering isn't happening very quickly because I am reading about simplicity. I need inspiration, right??
I came across another book on ENOUGH. Can't wait to dig into that one...on cleaning breaks...LOL
Funny "coincidence," I just started reading Ps. 119 in my reading plan today...then I was listening to some teaching on praying for your kids. The speaker suggested praying Scripture which I love to do, but they specifically suggested that if you only pray one thing, pray those 176 verses, persistenly!
Thank you God for a phone call from an important friend (LS-R) this morning, thank you for the encouragement to keep on praying. Speak Lord, I am listening....

After visiting Sudan, Kimberly L. Smith, in this book, Passport Through Darkness says of the experience,
"Every fiber of my being resisted slipping comfortably back into my safe, climate-controlled environment where abundant water quenched my thirst, filled my tub, flushed my waste, and even offered an endless array of recreation."
Oh Lord, help me to realize and appreciate my blessings and to pass them on to others.
She goes on to say at the end of the book, "Those of use who wake up longing to know more than the rote answers our culture gives us~ who long to recapture that dream God first held as He formed us in His hands will indeed risk all to live that dream, be that dream.
Here, with our hearts being wildly, taking stock of all that is at stake, we consider the loss, including life itself. Our bodies wane, weaken, and prepare to die even as we hope against all hope. Clinging to the truth of the resurrection, we throw off our fears and jump into the fray of life holding nothing of ourselves back. Here, in the unavoidable tussle of life and death, the dance floor opens for us to place our hand in His, trust His lead, and sway in the adoring arms of our Great Lover, our God."

7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Politics
I would have posted the link for the u-tube video, but I don't like the cariacutures of people, making fun of their personal appearance. So, I'll go with the song lyrics instead....my sentiments regarding the presidential debate last night. Actually, it wouldn't have mattered who the candidates were on the stage last night.
I’m so tired of these mortal men
with their hands on their wallets and their hearts full of sin
scared of their enemies, scared of their friends
and always running for re-election
so come to DC if it be thy will
because we’ve never had a savior on Capitol Hill
you can always trust the devil or a politician
to be the devil or a politician
but beyond that friends you’d best beware
’cause at the Pentagon bar they’re an inseparable pair
and as long as the lobbyists are paying their bills
we’ll never have a savior on Capitol Hill
[Bridge]
all of our problems gonna disappear
when we can whisper right in that President’s ear
he could walk right across the reflection pool
in his combat boots and ten thousand dollar suit
you can render unto Caesar everything that’s his
you can trust in his power to come to your defense
it’s the way of the world, the way of the gun
it’s the trading of an evil for a lesser one
so don’t hold your breath or your vote until
you think you’ve finally found a savior up on Capitol Hill

Where has the time gone. One of these days I'm gonna get my act together and start blogging regularly. In the meantime, I saw this quote today and had to post it. I sure hope its not true of our home...
I had hoped I'd be much further along in my minimizing and decluttering. I've made some progress but still have a long way to go!

Time...where do you go??
I really meant to blog in July and thought the photo a day would be a nice way to ease into it. I started off with a bang...but then with gardening/weeding, wedding things, organizing to declutter and have a rummage sale and other "LIFE STUFF," it just didn't happen....and it looks like August will be just as busy. So, I guess we'll see what the fall brings.

Blessings
I really meant to blog more...but it just didn't happen in June....flowers to plant, water, weed. Life and stuff just going on....I don't know where the time goes and I have a lot of thoughts tumbling in my head but don't get around to recording them here. I had to put this quote up though....it summarizes what's been going on in my heart for months.
"Life is not a straight line leading from one blessing to the next and then finally to heaven. Life is a winding and troubled road. Switchback after switchback. And the point of biblical stories like Joseph and Job and Esther and Ruth is to help us feel in our bones (not just know in our heads) that God is for us in all these strange turns. God is not just showing up after the trouble and cleaning it up. He is plotting the course and managing the troubles with far-reaching purposes for our good and for the glory of Jesus Christ.” John Piper

This is my current theme verse that represents what's going on inside and outside of me:
Ps. 4:6-8 (the Msg) Why is everyone hungry for more? "More, more," they say. I have God's more-than-enough, more joy in one ordinary day than they get in their shopping sprees. At day's end I'm ready for sound sleep. For You, God, have put my life back together.
I want to find my satisfaction in God alone.... not things! I want to experience JOY in the ordinary....something not found in things and shopping sprees. Only God's grace holds me together and the areas where I seem to be falling apart....He works to put me back together.

What a great book....especially when you are in the process of cleaning out and decluttering. It's not just about cleaning out physical "stuff" ....it's so much more than that!
P. 224 "Simplicity isn't about getting by on "what you need" instead of having "what you want," (such a hard distinction to make anyway); simplicity is about wanting something else." We are not being asked to limit our desire; we're being asked to tether our desire to the wild vision of God. Simplicity isn't about having a smaller life; it's having a bigger vision."
I have too many distractions...pure and simple~! I want clean hands and a pure heart...the road to get there is to focus my vision on God. The less I am consumed by things...the easier that will be.

Great quote for what I feel needs to be done in my heart and life....Every item I add to my possessions is one more thing to think about, talk about, clean, repair, display, rearrange, and replace when it goes bad. Acquiring a possession may also push me into redefining my priorities, making me unavailable for ministry. “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12:15). www.epm.org/mgm

Do I have a sense of urgency?
Amy Carmichael, "We shall have all of eternity to celebrate the victories, but we have only the few hours before sunset in which to win them."
Is my lack of action desensitizing me to the issues?
C. S. Lewis, "The more often we feel without acting, the less we will be able ever to act, and, in the long run, the less we will be able to feel."
Am I willing?
K.P. Yohannan," Please don't misunderstand. I'm not saying that a nice car or new clothes or anything like that is a bad thing. If poverty made us more spiritual, then there would be a lot of really spiritual people all over South Asia. No. This is about seeing the little ways that Lord calls us to live simply so that others can simply live."

Griping to Gratitude
(picture from Wikipedia)
"My loving God, You have turned my griping into gratitude, my screams of despair into proclamations of joy. How can I help but explode with praises and vow to spend eternity in thanksgiving to You?
You are my hope and salvation, the morning star and the evening star, my shade in the desert heat, and my warmth in the cold of the night.
You are the Bread of Life, the life-giving springs when my soul is parched and dry. You are the answer to my agonizing questions, the fulfillment of my deepest longings.
I am Yours, O God, Yours forever!
Make my life a perpetual offering of praise."

Remembering....
Yesterday was my brother Robert's birthday, he would have been 43 years old. I can't believe it's been almost a year ago already that he passed away. I bought this shrub with memorial money from my husband's family. In full bloom, it is a nice reminder to appreciate LIFE. You never know which day will be your last. I look forward to Easter this weekend and celebrating eternal life with Christ my Savior, who gave His life for me.

Palm Sunday
- “Hosanna!
- Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
- Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!
- Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Mark 11:9-10
As I celebrate Palm Sunday today, I am glad that this day was no April Fool's joke and that Christ really died for my sins.

11 Questions to Discern a Judgmental Heart
Our pastor, Mike Lee, is currently preaching through the Gospel of Matthew. This past Sunday, he preached on Matthew 7 and Jesus’ command to “judge not.” At the end of his sermon, Mike shared these 11 questions designed to help us discern a judgmental and critical spirit.
1. Am I more likely to see the sin in others than my sin?
2. When I pray, am I more likely to pray for God’s judgment on others rather than marvel at God’s amazing grace toward me?1. Am I more likely to see the sin in others than my sin?
3. Am I overly critical toward others while I give myself a pass or an excuse and justify my own sin?
4. Does my own sin ever lead me to deep remorse and repentance?
5. Do I have people whom I allow to hold me accountable for my sin and unforgiving heart?6. Do I have a tendency to be unforgiving while expecting others to forgive me quickly?
7. Do I find joy in exposing sin in others?
8. Do I find more joy in the “gotcha” moments of exposing sin or in sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ?
9. When others see how I deal with people, will they think God is mighty to save or that God would never forgive them and there is no hope for forgiveness?7. Do I find joy in exposing sin in others?
8. Do I find more joy in the “gotcha” moments of exposing sin or in sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ?
10. Do I receive correction humbly?
11. Before I correct others, do I spend time in God’s Word and prayer asking the Holy Spirit to expose my sin so that I might repent?

More tension...but it's a good thing
This book, among others that I've read in the past couple years, is causing tension in my life. It's a good thing. I need to make some changes.
Here's the crux of the matter:

Seven Ways to Decrease Excess and Increase God's Kingdom in Your Life
Whitney Hopler, Crosswalk.com Contributing Writer Thursday, March 15, 2012
Editor's note: The following is a report on the practical applications of Jen Hatmaker's new book, 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess (B&H Publishing Group, 2012).
When you intentionally reduce the excess in your lifestyle, you create space for God’s kingdom to break through. Then you can see life more from God’s perspective and join Him more in His work.
Here’s how you can take seven months to decrease excess in seven key areas of your life, and increase your participation in God’s kingdom work as a result:
Reduce your food consumption. For month one, choose just seven different types of food to eat, rather than consuming an endless variety of foods. Some healthy foods that can meet your nutritional needs for the month are: chicken, eggs, whole-wheat bread, sweet potatoes, spinach, avocados, and apples. Limit your drinks to water to make this month’s meals and snacks even simpler. If you’re medically able to do so, fast from all food for a short while, skipping some meals to train yourself to focus on something greater than your physical desires. Ask God to help you redirect your physical hunger to an appetite for what will satisfy you spiritually. Turn to God alone for true fulfillment.
Reduce your clothes consumption. For month two, choose only seven different types of clothing to wear (not including underwear, and a pair of shoes counts as one item) night and day for the whole month. Go through your closets and identify all the excess clothes that you don’t really need or have outgrown. Then donate as many as possible to organizations that help people in need. At the end of the month when you can wear more clothes and find yourself wanting some in a different style, consider swapping clothes with your friends instead of buying new ones at stores. Consider how much you’ve learned about humility and giving God glory during this time that you’ve been free from trying to clothe yourself for attention from others. Recognize that it doesn’t matter very much how you look to people on the outside; what’s in your soul is far more important. Remember that Jesus Himself had a very simple appearance (the Bible says in Isaiah 53:2 that Jesus “had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him”) but was magnificently handsome on the inside. Decide to value substance and integrity more than charisma and style.
Reduce your possessions. For month three, choose seven different things you own to give away – every single day (so in a month with 30 days, you’d give 210 items away). Ask God to direct you to specific people in need who could use the items you’re giving away, such as a single mother’s family that’s moving into a new apartment and needs furniture and household items, or refugees who had to leave most of their belongings behind when leaving their countries. Notice how giving away your excess possessions to help others who need them helps you let go of certain qualities (selfishness, greed, power, accumulation, prestige, and self-preservation) and embrace better qualities (community, generosity, compassion, mercy, brotherhood, kindness, and love). Follow Jesus’ advice to store up your treasures in heaven rather than on Earth by focusing on what has eternal value.
Reduce your media consumption. For month four, choose seven different types of media to abstain from, such as TV, video games, social media such as Facebook and Twitter, iPhone apps, radio, texting, and movies or some level of Internet usage. Then use the time that you would normally spend on those media activities for prayer. As you invest the extra time into communicating with God, notice how much more you become aware of His constant presence with you, and how powerfully His love flows into your life. When you resume using the seven kinds of media you’d given up during this month, use them more wisely, keeping them in proper perspective so they don’t turn into idols.
Reduce your waste. For month five, choose seven different habits you can begin to take better care of the environment. Some habits to consider are: gardening, composting, conserving energy or water, recycling, driving only one car, shopping at thrift and second-hand stores, and buying local products. Ask God to use this time to change you from a consumer who just uses God’s creation as a commodity to a steward who takes good care of creation as a sacred gift. Keep in mind that everything in creation is connected, and when people don’t follow God’s call to take care of it, everyone ultimately suffers. So help make our common ground holy ground by doing the right thing for the environment whenever you have an opportunity to do so.
Reduce your spending. For month six, reduce the amount of money you spend by choosing only seven different places to distribute your money. These may be places such as a grocery store, a gas station, a store that sells general household items you may need during the month, school expenses, a medical fund, a travel fund, and paying your bills online. Giving to your church and charities is a separate endeavor that you should continue uninterrupted during this month. In fact, you should increase your giving this month by redirecting some of the money you’ve saved from reducing your spending to helping other people (such as by welcoming others through hospitality and giving to organizations that fight poverty). Ask God to increase your compassion for people in need while you decrease your spending on yourself.
Reduce your stress. For month seven, reduce the amount of stress in your life by observing a weekly Sabbath day for rest and worship and by pausing at seven different times throughout each day to pray. At midnight, pray for those who are going through dark times of suffering. At dawn, give God thanks and praise for the gift of a new day. At midmorning, ask the Holy Spirit to bless your work for that day. At noon, commit to doing your best to help change the world for the better and point other people to the hope they can only find in Jesus. At midafternoon, pray for the right perspective on your life so you can invest your limited time into what matters most. At early evening, thank God for what you’ve experienced during the day and ask Him to give you peace to transition into night. At bedtime, pray for God to deliver you and others you know from evil and thank Him that His love is greater than any sin. Notice how less stress in your life has given you more clarity, so you can better discern what does and doesn’t truly matter.

Wounded Healer
From the book Wounded Healer by Henri Nouwen, "This is exactly the announcement of the wounded healer: The Master is coming~not tomorrow, but today, not next year, but this year, not after all our misery is passed, but in the middle of it, not in another place, but right here where we are standing."
Lord, teach me how to enter into the suffering of others, to be "Jesus with skin on" to people. I don't need to wait until I have it all together to be a servant. You can work through my brokenness to help others.

Compassion
O Lord, let me grow in compassion, realizing that every person has a story.
"Compassion is a sign of a truly great and generous heart. Compassion is understanding the troubles of others, coupled with an urgent desire to help. Man naturally is not compassionate. It is an attribute he must learn by living and by his own experiences. It is cultivating an ability to put ourselves in the other person's shoes, remembering that all facts and circumstances influencing the other person cannot be known to us." Megiddo Message

Grace that is greater than all my sin
Grace Active
Lord Jesus, Great High Priest,"Grace Active, in The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions, ed. Arthur Bennett (Edingburgh: The Banner of Truth Trust), 214-215.
You have opened a new and living way by which a fallen creature can approach you with acceptance. Help me to contemplate the dignity of your Person, the perfectness of your sacrifice, the effectiveness of your intercession.
O what blessedness accompanies devotion, when under all the trials that weary me, the cares that corrode me, the fears that disturb me, the infirmities that oppress me, I can come to you in my need and feel peace beyond understanding!
The grace that restores is necessary to preserve, lead, guard, supply, help me. And here your saints encourage my hope; they were once poor and are now rich, bound and are now free, tried and now are victorious.
Every new duty calls for more grace than I now possess, but not more than is found in you, the divine Treasury in whom all fullness dwells. To you I repair for grace upon grace, until every void made by sin be replenished and I am filled with all your fullness. May my desires be enlarged and my hopes be emboldened, that I may honor you by my entire dependency and the greatness of my expectation.
Be with me, and prepare me for all the smiles of prosperity, the frowns of adversity, the losses of substance, the death of friends, the days of darkness, the changes of life, and the last great change of all.
May I find your grace sufficient for all my needs.

I need more cardio workouts...both kinds!!!
"I love thinking about prayer in this way, as a spiritual cardio workout. When we pray we are massaging our hearts with the pressure of God’s eternal perfections and subsequently producing in us the enduring praise to the glory of his grace. Prayer both prepares and sustains affections. In preparing our hearts it works to mold our imperfections closer to the perfect image of Christ and in sustaining it ignites within us an enduring passionate appreciation and pursuit of the glory of God. Prayer for living out the Gospel
Please pray for me,that I may have both spiritual and physical strength to perform my duties;
that I may not only speak the truth but become the truth;
that I may not only be called a Christian, but also live like a Christian.
Yet I do not want people to look to me as an example,
for at best I can only be a pale reflection of Christ Jesus;
let people look away from the reflection and turn to the reality.
Christianity is not a matter of persuading people of particular ideas,
but of inviting them to share in the greatness of Christ.
So pray that I may never fall into the trap of impressing people with clever speech,
but instead I may learn to speak with humility,
desiring only to impress people with Christ himself.

GRACE
Grace is not rational…The gospel of grace throws our glory train off its tracks. Instead of calculating, mastering, and determining, we find ourselves completely helpless, left with no option but to fall into the everlasting arms of the God who could consume us in his wrath but instead embraces us in his Son. May my day be "fruitful"
Mother Teresa's business card:The fruit of SILENCE is Prayer,
the fruit of PRAYER is faith,
the fruit of FAITH is love,
the fruit of LOVE is Service,
the fruit of SERVICE is Peace
I don't know if this is really Mother Teresa's business card or not, but it certainly is a truism and she has lived it out well.

Love
"To love means to be with another and for another for their benefit." Chaplain Mike, Internetmonk.comHadn't thought of it quite that way before but it makes sense.

A Listening Heart
A Listening Heart
There is a magnet in a seeker’s heart
whose true north is God.
It bends toward the Voice of God
with the ear of the heart
and, like sunflowers in the sun,
turns all of life toward
the living of the Word.
This listening is pure of pride
and free of arrogance.
It seeks wisdom—
everywhere, at all times—
and knows wisdom by the way
it echoes
the call of the scriptures.
The compass of God implanted
in the seeker’s heart
stretches toward truth
and signals the way to justice.
A truly listening heart knows
that we lose the chance for truth
if we give another—any other—
either too much, or too little,
control over the conscience
that is meant to be ours alone.
And yet, at the same time
mutual obedience,
real listening,
holy listening
forever seeks the spiritual dialogue
holy wisdom demands.
This listening with the heart
to the insights of another
is not the obedience of children,
or soldiers,
or servants,
or minions.
It is the obedience given to a lover
because of love alone.

Is. 50:4 (adapted) O, Sovereign Lord give me words of wisdom,
so that I may know how to comfort the weary.
Morning by morning awaken me
and open my understanding to Your will.
Teach me to listen.

Tension
I feel a constant tension, but I guess it isn't a bad thing. As the lyrics to the song, Altar and Door (by Casting Crowns) go, I am between who I was, who I am and who God is making me to be.
I was also thinking of the song Who Am I, (by Casting Crowns)
Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are...
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are...
Thanks, God for a brisk walk and thoughts of you. Thanks for my fluffy, handsome walking partner who drags me along. Thanks for health and the ability to walk. Thanks for a balmy day in January and the bright sunshine. Thanks for an I-pod so I can listen to tunes while I walk. Thanks for who you are and for working in me.

My mindset
(photo from biologycorner.com)
The issue of mindset has come up several times this week. I have been thinking about how Christ is not part of my life....but is my very life. In these verses in Col. 3:1-4 it speaks about how, if I am dead and alive in Christ I should set my mind on things above. What does that mean? The same idea came up in Small Group in Romans 8:5 of the mind set on things of the Spirit. So as this new year is off and running I want to keep in mind the "1 thing" (Luke 10:42) to fellowship with and abide in Christ; to seek first His kingdom (Matt. 6:33) and to know Him more fully (Phil. 3:10). Lord, please teach me what it means and how to set my mind on things above.

Three Words for 2012
I am revisiting my post from last Jan. 16, 2011 in which I chose three words to set the stage for my goals for the coming year. My words for this year are SOLI DEO GLORIA which means "glory to God alone." That's what I want all my life activities to be...
Starting 2012.....
As I prayerfully enter into the New Year I agree:
A New Year's Prayer
To thee, O God, I give up myself, to be used and employed for thee. I desire to live no longer than I may do thee some service. Make what use of me thou pleasest, only let me obtain mercy of the Lord, to be found diligent, humble, and faithful. O that the work of this year may be better done than that of the last, and my time more filled up; and that I may never grow weary of well doing.
To thee, O God, I give up myself, to be disposed of by thee as thou pleasest. I know not what the year may bring forth to me, or to my family. But welcome the holy will of God; and God, by his grace, make me ready for it. If it be the last year of my life, my dying year, may I but finish my course with joy; and farewell this world. Whatever afflictions may this year befall me, I desire none of them may move me from God and my duty, amen.(a prayer by Matthew Henry, January 1, 1707)

Here's another good one:
Here's another good one:
Lord God Almighty,
I understand that I am unable to do anything without your help,
so I ask you to enable me by your grace to fulfill your will.
I understand that I am unable to do anything without your help,
so I ask you to enable me by your grace to fulfill your will.
Give me grace to do whatever brings most glory and honor to you,
pleasure and profit to me,
and life and love to others.
pleasure and profit to me,
and life and love to others.
Help me to number my days,
spending my time wisely,
living my life with all my might while I still have breath.
spending my time wisely,
living my life with all my might while I still have breath.
Humble me in the knowledge that I am chief of sinners;
when I hear of the sins of others,
help me to not look upon them with pride,
but to look upon myself with shame,
confessing my own sins to you.
when I hear of the sins of others,
help me to not look upon them with pride,
but to look upon myself with shame,
confessing my own sins to you.
When I go through difficulties and trials,
remind me of the pains of hell
from which you have already delivered me.
remind me of the pains of hell
from which you have already delivered me.
Place people in my path who need my help,
and give me a compassionate and generous spirit.
and give me a compassionate and generous spirit.
Fill my heart with such love
that I would never do anything out of a spirit of revenge,
nor lose my temper with those around me.
Hold my tongue when I am tempted to speak evil of others.
that I would never do anything out of a spirit of revenge,
nor lose my temper with those around me.
Hold my tongue when I am tempted to speak evil of others.
Thank you for the gospel and for the hope of glory.
Help me to live in light of these truths every day of my life,
so that when the time of my death arrives,
I will rest assuredly in you,
and you will be most glorified in me.
Help me to live in light of these truths every day of my life,
so that when the time of my death arrives,
I will rest assuredly in you,
and you will be most glorified in me.
In Christ’s name…
