My Guy....Riley

I already dread that day since my guy just had his 8th birthday....but when the time comes this will bring me comfort.  In the meantime, I will focus my energies on being grateful and enjoy each day as it comes.

Treasured Friend
I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
His gentle head upon my knee
And shared his silent thoughts with me.
He’ll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more his favorite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called him to his golden throne.
Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let him spend down here with me
And for his love and loyalty.
When it is time for me to go
And join him there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For he will greet me with a bark.

Decluttering

I have been working for weeks to declutter the basement utility/craft room.  It has been quite an undertaking.  It took a long time to get motivated to start because the job seemed overwhelming, though I had the desire to get er' done.  I have hauled boatloads of stuff out of there and it feels so good.  There has been lots of progress.  I saw a quote today,

"Clutter breeds clutter!"

So, I am trying to get out of the breeding business.  This blog entry I came across today was very encouraging:

Remembering....

Yesterday was my brother Robert's birthday, he would have been 43  years old.  I can't believe it's been almost a year ago already that he passed away.  I bought this shrub with memorial money from my husband's family.  In full bloom, it is a nice reminder  to appreciate LIFE.  You never know which day will be your last. I look forward to Easter this weekend and celebrating eternal life with Christ my Savior, who gave His life for me.

Palm Sunday

“Hosanna!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!”  Mark 11:9-10

As I celebrate Palm Sunday today, I am glad that this day was no April Fool's joke and that Christ really died for my sins.

Three Words for 2012

I am revisiting my post from last Jan. 16, 2011 in which I chose three words to set the stage for my goals for the coming year.  My words for this year are SOLI    DEO    GLORIA    which means "glory to God alone."  That's what I want all my life  activities to be...

Dithering Drought

I was going to make a real effort to blog more starting in April and here it is the 5th and I haven't yet....guess I don't have much to say these days.  It has been pretty busy around here.  Had book club this morning...trying to finish knitted sweaters to send off to Afghanistan before May.  Did a "for hire" quilting project  two weekends ago.   And this is the calm before the storm of weeds start growing in the gardens.  Where does the time go??

Long Winter

Today my heart is heavy for the people of the Japan and the suffering over there due to the earthquake and tsunami.

Wow, it has been over a month since I updated....where has the time gone?  I am anxious for spring to get here.  What has consumed my time?  Reading, knitting, crocheting, organizing the sewing room, friends, family..... I still have a big job waiting in the storage area of the lower level garage but that will have to wait until warmer weather.

I need to update more often.....I'll have to work on that.
